Last year, LELO Relicensing Program has served over 350 clients and about 102 individuals have regained the drivers licenses. Our program will work with individuals to understand and comply with the Washington State Department of Licensing requirements and resolve holds placed on their driver licenses; will help to work with collection agencies to reduce public debt and will promote programs and policies that enhance the quality of life for low-income, marginalized and disenfranchised communities through education, advocacy, policy development and community organizing. When the license is suspended due to unpaid tickets, the driver who continues to drive commits the crime of Driving While License Suspended in the Third Degree (DWLS 3). As an organization led by ordinary workers, we develop the leadership of those most marginalized in our society: people of color, working class women, recent immigrants and LGBTQ (lesbian gaybisexual transgender queer) workers. Our social change strategy is local organizing, with emphasis on political education and solidarity networks with workers across all borders. ![]()
